Hamza Abdiwahab is the Director of Climate Change Division at the East African Group, Hamza's journey started in the NGO sector during his studies, where he grew his expertise in SDGs, diplomacy, and youth political engagement. With a deep-rooted pride in representing the African continent, Hamza possesses profound insights into Somalia's political dynamics, and societal context. Recently, he had the honor of serving as the youth delegate from Somalia at the United Nations Summit of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) held in Doha and worked on contributing to the Doha program of Action (DpoA).

Hamza has recently graduated from the Climate, Peace, and Security Experts Academy – Youth Iteration by UNDP, gaining expertise on the nexus of climate and peacebuilding. He served as the Lead Facilitator for the Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) National Action Plan consultations in the Federal Republic of Somalia, promoting youth involvement in peace and security policy. He also plays a pivotal role as the sole youth representative on Somalia’s Climate Pillar for the National Transformation Plan (NTP) 2024-2029, ensuring that youth perspectives shape national climate policies.

Hamza holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Governance and Public Policy from UNIRAZAK - Malaysia and a Diploma in International Relations and Diplomacy  from Altakamolia International College - Malaysia
